I was nervous about looking overdone. We talked through sizing for almost an hour and the result looks like me before breastfeeding, just lifted.Priya S.Airdrie
Breast augmentation in Calgary
Restore the upper fullness pregnancy and breastfeeding took, sized to look like you.
Restoring volume after breastfeeding
Breastfeeding often leaves the upper half of the breast deflated, even when the cup size seems unchanged. Augmentation replaces that lost volume with an implant or with your own fat.
For mommy makeover patients, the goal is usually restoration, not transformation: getting back the shape you had before pregnancy, or slightly fuller. That shapes every decision, from implant size to placement. Augmentation remains one of the most common cosmetic operations, with over 300,000 procedures in the United States in 2023 (American Society of Plastic Surgeons).
Signs augmentation may suit you
- Your breasts look empty or flat at the top since nursing
- Bras gape at the top cup
- Your nipples still sit above the breast fold, so no lift is needed
- You are finished breastfeeding and your size has settled
If your breasts have also dropped, see breast lift with implants, which addresses volume and position together.
From sizing to recovery
- Measurements and sizingYour surgeon measures chest width, breast base and tissue thickness, then uses sizers so you can see and feel options in a bra and fitted top.
- Choosing an implantYou decide on silicone or saline, shape, profile and size, guided by what your tissue can support.
- SurgeryUsually about one to one and a half hours under general anaesthesia, with the implant placed through an incision in the breast fold, behind or partly behind the muscle.
- RecoveryA surgical bra for several weeks, desk work in about a week, and no heavy lifting or upper-body training for around six weeks.
Implant and fat transfer options compared
| Option | Feel | Volume gain | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silicone gel implant | Closest to natural tissue | Any size your tissue supports | Health Canada advises ongoing monitoring; slightly longer incision |
| Saline implant | Firmer, may ripple in thin tissue | Adjustable at surgery | Smaller incision; deflation is obvious |
| Fat transfer | Entirely natural | Modest, often about one cup or less | Requires liposuction donor area; some fat is reabsorbed |

Sizing for your everyday life
Calgary moms tell us they want a result that works for running after kids, ski days at Sunshine and hiking in Kananaskis as much as for special occasions. That usually points to a moderate, proportionate implant rather than the largest your frame will hold, and it is the conversation we start sizing with.
Why choose us for breast augmentation
Sizing based on your tissue
Implant size is chosen from your measurements, not from a photo of someone else. Your surgeon measures breast width and tissue coverage and shows you the range that will look natural on your frame. You try sizers in your own clothes before deciding, and nothing is finalised in a rush.

We use implants licensed by Health Canada and register each device so you have its details for life. You receive written information on monitoring, the signs of complications and what long-term follow-up looks like, including the rare risks your surgeon is required to discuss.

If you are also considering a tummy tuck, your surgeon plans breast size and waist contour together so the proportions suit each other. Combining procedures means one anaesthetic and one recovery period when it is safe to do so.

After two kids my core never came back, no matter how much I trained. The muscle repair made a bigger difference than I expected, and the recovery plan meant I always knew what week two and week six should feel like.Danielle R.Calgary, Mahogany
The consultation was honest. I came in asking for a full tummy tuck and was told a mini plus some lipo would suit me better. They were right.Megan T.Cochrane
Having both procedures done together meant one recovery instead of two. My husband took two weeks off, my mom helped with the kids, and the staged plan made it manageable.Alyssa K.Okotoks
Breast Augmentation questions
How long after breastfeeding should I wait for augmentation?
Most surgeons recommend waiting around three to six months after you stop breastfeeding so that breast size has stabilised before implants are chosen.
Will implants lift my breasts?
Implants add volume and can give a slight lift to mild sagging. If your nipple sits at or below the breast fold, a breast lift is usually needed as well.
Can I breastfeed after augmentation?
Many women can, especially when the incision is in the breast fold and the implant sits behind the muscle, but no surgeon can guarantee it. Most moms choose augmentation once they are finished having children.
Do breast implants need replacing?
Implants are not lifetime devices. Many last well over ten years, but you should expect the possibility of further surgery at some point. Health Canada recommends regular follow-up for silicone implants.
Silicone or saline: which is better?
Silicone gel feels more like natural breast tissue and is the most common choice. Saline implants use a smaller incision and any rupture is obvious. Your surgeon will help you weigh feel, cost and monitoring.
